The auctioned capacity is 288,21MW and battery storage systems of at least 2-hour duration and of maximum capacity up to 72,05MW can participate. The announcement also highlights a reduction in the CAPEX support from €200k/MW down to €100k/MW, and an associated reduction in the required guarantees from €250k/MW down €150k/MW. The submission deadline is on 22 December 2023.

It is worth noting that results from the 1st Auction revealed that bids trended on average 57% lower compared to the starting price. Mainly small capacity projects of the order of 25 and 50 MW participated in the auction, a move expected, as there was a participation limit per participant, at 25% of the auctioned capacity.
