Description
The project referred to the construction of a 5 MW wind Park in Kastri, on the southern part of Evia island, in central Greece. This area is one of the highest wind potential regions in Greece. The wind park as planned, is to consist of 10 Nedwind wind turbines, 500 kW each. The park operates as an independent power producer to sell 100% of its production to the medium voltage transmission grid of the Public Power Corporation of Greece.
The project was granted public financing from the Operational Programme of Energy.
Consultancy services were provided by LDK to the installation owner and future operator, being the Meltemi Kastri SA, during the conceptual stages of the project. In particular, following tasks were undertaken:
- conduction of analytical wind measurements for a period of 15 months at two locations of the selected area;
- documentation, assessment and monitoring of measurements;
- estimation of wind energy production potential of the site through computer modelling;
- conduction of feasibility study for the project;
- preparation of documentation and assistance for the granting of installation permit;
- preparation of the application for financing from the Operational Programme of Energy.
