The Annual Steeting Committee Meeting of the European Commission Programme under the name "Sustainable Water Integrated Management" was held in Barcelona on the 15th and 16th of December 2014, under the auspices of the European Commission and the Union for the Mediterranean.

Main findings, successes and challenges of the four-year service contract led by LDK Consultants were discussed and a workplan for the year 2015 was approved. According to the European Commission, this is the most important regional project in the Mediterranean region in water management and creates both a momentum in water conservation, as well as supports a value -adding regional dialogue among the beneficiary countries of the Middle East and North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Pelastine, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan).

SWIM-SM is designed along three main pillars of intervention, i.e. Non-Conventional Water Resrouces, Economic Valuation of Water Resrouces and Local Governance. Up to now the implementing consortium led by LDK Consultants has made policy assessments, trainings, expert group meetings and study tours, while it also sustains a large dissemination and communication component for the results of the activities and the 5 DEMO projects which have been assigned by the European Commission to international consortia of organisations.
