Type of Services
- To identify institutional and regulatory measures required for improving solid waste disposal and landfill operations in the country;
- To develop a national policy monitoring framework;
- To draw a medium-term financial plan, at country level, recommending investments in rehabilitation of existing dumpsites, new sanitary landfills and accompanying measures;
- To recommend an optimal financing mix (grants, loans and public-private partnerships) for implementing investments and accompanying measures, in order to support the EU Delegation on the optimal use of its budgetary allocation;
- To design the Regional Municipal SWM Plan for the Central Region of the Kingdom.

Description
The overall objective of the project is as follows:
- To Assist the EU Delegation in the formulation of a budget support operation supporting the implementation of Jordan National Solid Waste Management Strategy (NSWMS) and advice on the optimal use of its budgetary allocation based on 2 scenarios (40-60 mios).
- To assist the Government of Jordan (GoJ) in specializing the NSWMS at regional level and implementing the NSWMS in the Central Region, by preparing a Regional Solid Waste Management Plan (RSWMP)
Project’s purposes:
Purpose 1
- Result 1: identifying institutional and regulatory measures required for improving solid waste disposal and landfill operations in the Central Region.
- Result 2: identifying investments and accompanying measures, needed for the implementation of the NSWMS in the Central Region.
- Result 3: evaluation of investments on rehabilitation, landfills and accompanying measures, needed for the implementation of the NSWMS in South Region.
- Result 4: identifying investments that will attract private sector’s interest.
- Result 5: set location criteria for new Disposal Facilities in South Region
Purpose 2
- Result 1: develop a medium term financial plan including new investments, rehabilitation of existing dumpsites and accompanying measures.
- Result 2: advice on the optimal financing mix (grants, loans and public-private partnerships) for implementing investments and accompanying measures.
