Type of Services
The services provided in the context of the project included management, monitoring and administration of the programme, aiming at the effective programming and efficient organization of the Operational Programme procedures. A Project Management Unit (PMU) was established in Lamia (the seat of the Regional Administration) operating in four functional levels:
- provision of assistance to the projects' implementing bodies;
- provision of support to the president and the secretariat of the Monitoring Committee;
- collaboration with the co-ordinators of each sub-programme;
- provision of services to the Monitoring Committee.
The PMU was involved in a wide range of activities including, among others, the following:
- detailed analysis and description of the projects that were being implemented;
- development of a Management Information System;
- analysis of the data collected;
- Project Monitoring;
- proposal drafting for the successful implementation of the Programme.
Description
The Region of Sterea Ellada(Objective 1: Region - area NUTS II) is one of the 13 regions of Greece, sited in the central part of the mainland. Administratively, it comprises five prefectures (level NUTS II), namely Viotia, Evia, Evritania, Fthiotida and Fokida. The Regional Operational Programme (ROP), in the framework of the 2nd Community Support Framework (2nd CSF), was an integrated development initiative consisting of 8 sub-programmes and addressing mainly following sectors:
- development and support of infrastructure in the region;
- support of small- and medium-sized enterprises;
- support of the productive environment in the less developed areas of the region
